Gortynion Elaion is a limited production, Koroneiki monovarietal superior quality extra virgin olive oil with low acidity and rich flavour. It is produced in the plain of Messara, south of Heraklion Crete. We believe in quality and not in quantity and we take care of our olive trees like the apple of our eye. Each year, the harvesting takes place in November when the olive fruit is at its peak and provides excellent taste and health benefits.

Family Tradition

The family’s relationship with the olive tree and the olive fields dates back almost a century ago, when Menelaos Papagrigoriou and his son, Stylianos, were operating their olive mill in Choustouliana, Heraklion, Crete. Back then, olive oil mills were called “Fabbricas”, which means factories and it’s a word that was bequeathed to Cretans by the Venetians. It’s still used today and integrated as part of the Cretan dialect.


The family continued the tradition across generations, without forgetting its link with the olive tree. For us, the olive fruit is not just a fruit that provides us with olive oil; it is our memories and our way of life.

The collection of the olive fruit takes place at our olive groves in the plain of Messara, Crete, Greece. Recommended as a dressing in salads, legumes, fish or meat, pasta, and soups.
